Bohinj Park EKO hotel was founded with the intention of introducing exceptional hotel management - which is also kind to nature - into the Slovene market. It is envisaged as being a modern relaxation centre: Bohinj Park EKO Hotel is the number one eco hotel in Slovenia. The level of conscientiousness present in this pioneering eco tourist building certainly serves as a motivating factor for better criteria for quality services and exceeding existing frameworks with a good example and positive attitude.

Guests value the healthy environment and the protection and preservation of its natural beauty. Bohinj Park EKO Hotel encourages such an attitude. In addition to the unique building itself, the permanence of attitude and position in a culturally rich but economically poor glacial valley also marks it out as something different. It is situated on the threshold of Slovenia's only national park, which promotes contact between foreign and Slovene guests and the untouched nature of alpine mountains, waterfalls and gorges.

Challenges:
• How can we market a Slovene eco hotel to foreign countries? (Primarily: USA, Japan, Australia) It is known that there is great interest in the "green travel" tourist industry, and there are also international representations that deal with the promotion of green destinations. Slovenia is relatively unknown, so we are interested in the most suitable approach. Appearances at tourist fairs abroad would make sense; however, it is not possible to market (a single) eco hotel directly. For effective marketing, several linked offers connected with the mutual cooperation of national tourism organisations and service chains would be required.
• How can we avoid both promoting Bohinj as a destination and exceeding the logical tourist season? It would be best to draw tourists’ attention to months which are out of season – spring and autumn. Which part of the public is most suited to these dates? Which tourists from which countries would be interested in visiting Slovenia and which tourist packages should be offered?
• Which tourism product would be the most interesting for German, French and Dutch motorists? Judging by internet analysis, the main reason motorcyclists enter Slovenia is for transit purposes. How can we attract these people and motivate them to stay in Bohinj for more than a couple of hours? They are generally not interested in green destinations or may be a "lost cause" only looking for a quick pit stop.
• Would it be sensible to market an all inclusive offer at Bohinj Park EKO Hotel? We know that it is primarily distant markets that are interested in all inclusive packages. Austrian hotels at Tyrol have such packages even at five star destinations. What type of clientele would be interested in such services and would it be sensible to set this up given the fact the hotel is not targeting mass tourism, but instead strives for lasting value and naturalness for staff as well as tourists? Are educated, well-off guests also interested in an all inclusive offer? Which countries do such guests come from? Would Slovenians be interested in such a package? What is the profile of the people who might be interested? Maybe all-inclusive is a totally inappropriate concept in light of our stance?
• Would it be possible to develop a market product at the Bohinj Park EKO Hotel complex (in any area) which would actually increase its interest and attractiveness? What would that be and why?

The best solution will be awarded by a weekend package for two people at Bohinj Park EKO Hotel. The offer is based on half-board service, including entry to the aquapark, sauna park, fitness centre, a stay in a fantastic room with a balcony and free use of the garage and internet all over the hotel. One hour of bowling and four hours hire of two bikes are also included.

Deadline for all challenge solutions is 22nd September 2010. Solutions are to be submitted at http://btps-izzivi.turistica.si/.
