In the last two years the Bank of Tourism Potentials of Slovenia project has received important accolades from the World Tourism Organisation, the European Commission and, on the domestic front, the Public Agency for Entrepreneurship and Foreign Investment (JAPTI).

The Bank of Tourism Potentials in Slovenia (BTPS) won a World Tourism Organisation award for special and innovative achievements in the field of tourism. The BTPS was also ranked as an example of good practice in the European Year of Creativity and Innovation and at the 5th Slovenian Innovation Forum.

The World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) introduced the Ulysses awards seven years ago in order to draw attention to special and innovative achievements in tourism on an annual basis. In 2009 one of the three special jury awards in the public institutions category went to the Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) for the Bank of Tourism Potentials in Slovenia (BTPS), a project which is implemented as a partnership by Turistica (the Faculty of Tourism Studies at the University of Primorska) and the Tourism Directorate at the Ministry of the Economy.

But the Ulysses award is not the only thing the BTPS has won. Recognition for the project has also come from the European Union, which officially presented the Bank of Tourism Potentials in Slovenia as an example of good practice in the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009. The European Commission selected 80 of the 200 projects submitted for a special category of high-quality projects whose aims coincided with the aims of the European Year of Creativity and Innovation.

At the end of 2010 the BTPS has also won particular recognition from Public Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Entrepreneurship and Foreign Investments (JAPTI), being chosen from among a total of 176 innovative products, services and business processes for presentation at the 5th Slovenian Innovation Forum in Ljubljana in December. The BTPS was entered in the innovative services category for innovators, research institutions and young people, and classified third in its category!
