Deposits::Ski Museum

The following idea was submitted to the Snovalec 2011 call, a national competition for most promising tourism ideas in Slovenia that are brought to life by the help of Slovenian Tourist Board and the Ministry of Economy. Out of 73 submitted ideas it was chosen as one of the 12 most promising.

Slovenia is the cradle of skiing and the Slovenians are a skiing nation; however, we do not have a special tribute to skiing in the form of attractive tourist presentation yet.
The Ski Museum presents a tribute to Slovenia's ski boom in the 1970s and 1980s. It is designed as an open-air museum presenting technical heritage that includes old cableway infrastructure and as an attractive interior collection, the presentation of the ski culture in the golden period of Slovenian skiing. The collection includes ski clothing, equipment and objects related to skiing, as well as the ski euphoria of those times. Objects, pictorial, textual and audio materials, computer applications and a ski simulator will support the exhibition. The exhibition will allow visitors to be actively involved, touching objects and in this way reliving the golden era of Slovenian skiing.
The Ski Museum will be attractive to all who are interested in the technological heritage and family trips, as well as to the nostalgics, retro collectors and curious tourists from various countries.
