Bank of Tourism Potentials in Slovenia (BTPS) is a project created on the basis of an outline proposal from Turistica - Faculty of Tourism Studies, University of Primorska (an idea by Dejan Križaj).

Tourism and Internationalisation Directorate at the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology and public agency SPIRIT Slovenia, Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) decided that the self-initiative proposal of project activities to increase the innovative potential of tourism in Slovenia was promising and decided to realise it. BTPS operates under the aegis of SPIRIT/STB and consists of the following bodies.

Rok V. Klančnik, former Director of Communications at the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) in Madrid, currently a represntative of Slovenian tourism in Brussels.
Bojan Pretnar, professor of intellectual property and innovation at the Faculties of Economics, Social Sciences and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana, senior official of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).
Nenad Savič, expert in the sphere of guaranteeing business excellence and the intoduction of strategies and renovation of business processes.
Branko Marinič, author and co-author of numerous realised ideas in the sphere of tourism product design.

BANK COUNCIL MEMBERS

Ms Helena Cvikl, MSc, is Director of the Vocational College for Catering and Tourism Maribor, lecturer at UP Turistica – College of Tourism, Secretary-General of the European Association of Hotel and Tourism Schools, and a member of a number of Slovenian and international councils and committees. She is a quality assurance expert and a licensed accommodation classification official.

Ms Tanja Mihalič, PhD, is a professor of tourism at the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana, author of numerous articles, textbooks and books on the topic of tourism, focusing in particular on the competitiveness of Slovenian tourism and eco-management. She is a member of and advisor to several leading international associations.

Mr Peter Florjančič, a man of the world and a prolific inventor, also in the field of tourism, used to run a renowned restaurant. He won the first prize for his invention, pool workout equipment, at the IENA 2006 international exhibition of innovation.

Mr Andrej Kitanovski, PhD, is a former General Director of the Directorate for Entrepreneurship and Competitiveness at the Ministry of the Economy of the Republic of Slovenia and holder of several patents. He is also a member of eminent international organisations and institutes.

Mr Rok V. Klančnik, Chief of Press and Communications with the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) in Madrid for the past four years, is currently serving as a representative of Slovenian tourism in Brussels.

Mr Bojan Pretnar, PhD, is a professor at the University of Ljubljana: the Intellectual Property and Innovation postgraduate course at the Faculty of Economics, the Innovation and Intellectual Property undergraduate course at the Faculty of Social Sciences, and Industrial Property Law at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. He is also a senior official and permanent representative of Slovenia at the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and the TRIPS Council of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

Mr Nenad Savič, MSc, is a consultant in the fields of adopting strategies and redesigning business processes, a business excellence expert and a senior EFQM Excellence Model assessor.

Mr Branko Marinič is the author and co-author of numerous implemented innovative ideas in the field of tourism product development, a staunch advocate of copyright protection and an expert on tourism, particularly the organisation and the social and spatial aspects of tourism.

Mr Tomaž Krajnčič is Head of Marketing and PR with the Hypo Alpe Adria Bank. His main contribution to the Council of the Bank of Potentials in Slovenia is technical expertise in the implementation and operation of the banking system.
